GPs To Stop Prescribing Some Medicines
Written by HFM News on 1st August 2018
Doctors across Harborough are to stop prescribing medicines and treatments if they can be bought over the counter in pharmacies and supermarkets.
It will affect things like pain killers, cough medicines, hayfever tablets and coldsore treatments, although people with certain long term conditions will be exempt from the change.
NHS bosses say the move – coming into force in October – will help save around £4m spent yearly on medicines that can be bought over the counter.
