Calls For Clarity Over Planned Kibworth Tip Closure

There are calls for more details about the planned closure of Kibworth tip.
Leicestershire County Council says essential improvement works are needed, but has yet to confirm what they involve, when the closure will start or how long it will last.
There are also questions over whether opening hours at other recycling and household waste sites will be extended to help residents during the closure.

The uncertainty comes after the Kibworth site was closed for a major refurbishment in 2023. It was also shut again in 2024 after a heavy goods vehicle damaged a steel canopy.
Harborough MP Neil O’Brien has written to the county council’s chief executive demanding more details about the latest planned closure.
Councillor Phil King, who represents the Kibworth area, has also called for further information and spoke to HFM:
