Domestic Abuse and Mental Health Messages Go On The Move

Harborough’s bin lorries are carrying striking new messages to raise awareness of a range of important community issues.

The vehicles feature campaigns covering domestic abuse, mental health, fly-tipping and dog fouling, alongside warnings about the fire risks posed by batteries that are thrown away incorrectly.

The vehicles feature campaigns including domestic abuse support.

A spokesperson for Harborough District Council said the idea was identified when the new vehicles were ordered.

“When we ordered the new bin lorries, colleagues from our Community Safety Team and Waste Services identified them as a good opportunity to raise awareness of a range of important issues and campaigns,” they said.

The messages also include general information about waste and recycling, with the council hoping to reach residents as the vehicles travel around the district.

“The aim is to use the vehicles, which travel throughout the district, as a visible way of sharing important information and signposting support services to residents,” the spokesperson added.
