The latest problems happened at the Rockingham Road and Gores Lane junction early this morning

It is the latest in a series of failures since the roadworks began, with drivers previously reporting significant delays and frustration.

Today’s fault was fixed by around 8.45am when workers arrived at the site.

Yesterday, Leicestershire County Council says it was aware of the ongoing issues and is working with the contractor to understand the root cause of the repeated failures and find solutions.

Speaking after today’s failure, a council spokesperson said: “We know this situation has been frustrating and we thank the public for their patience and understanding whilst we continue to work on fixing this.

“Officers were on site this morning and worked quickly to address the problem, which has now been resolved.

“We will continue to monitor the situation and are working closely with the contractor throughout the project to mitigate further issues.”
