Written by on 1st October 2026

The family of a much-loved Market Harborough shopkeeper have launched a fundraising appeal in his memory.

Jim Gilbert, who ran Frank Gilbert Housewares on the High Street, died in August aged 78.

He had been a familiar face in the town for more than 50 years, running the family business and serving generations of customers.

Jim’s family have now set up a JustGiving page to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK in his memory.

They are encouraging people to donate if they are able to, with the fundraiser supporting research and work to tackle prostate cancer.

A memorial bench is also set to be unveiled in Market Harborough town centre in Jim’s memory.
