Market Harborough Sea Cadets Praised Following Special Inspection

Market Harborough’s Sea Cadets have been praised following one of the most important events in the unit’s calendar.

TS Fernie hosted its Royal Naval Parade Inspection on Tuesday evening, giving cadets the chance to demonstrate their skills through a series of training exercises, alongside a traditional ceremony.

The bi-annual event is similar to an Ofsted inspection and was attended by senior officials and local dignitaries, including the Sea Cadets’ Area Commander Charlie Bagot-Jewitt, who praised the work of the cadets and leaders:

The inspection also provided an opportunity to see the training and activities taking place at TS Fernie, based at Meadowdale Primary School.

Harborough District Council chairman Buddy Anderson was also at the event and spoke to HFM:

A spokesperson for TS Fernie said the comments and feedback received from guests and parents had been “exceptional”.

They said: “To hear so many positive remarks about our cadets, their confidence, their conduct and the breadth of opportunities available to them was incredibly rewarding.

“The evening concluded with our Evening Colours ceremony, followed by two of our newest cadets taking their Sea Cadet Promise and the presentation of a whole host of awards recognising achievements both on and off the water.

“A brilliant way to finish a very special evening.

“To every cadet and volunteer who contributed – thank you. You did yourselves and your Unit incredibly proud.”

Leading Cadet Isabella Solenski, who joined seven years ago, told HFM what it is like to be part of the unit.
