Farmers in HFM region feel impact of hot and dry weather

Farmers across the HFM region are feeling the impact of continued hot and dry weather, with concerns growing over what could be one of the UK’s worst harvests on record.
New analysis suggests cereal production, including wheat, barley, oats and oilseed, could be around 2.5 million tonnes lower than earlier forecasts.

Rachel Fyfe farms land with her family just south of Market Harborough, between Clipston and Naseby and is chairman of the Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland branch of the National Farmers’ Union.
