Armed Forces Day Flag Raised in Market Harborough Ceremony

The Armed Forces Day flag has been raised above the Symington Building in Market Harborough as the town shows its support for the armed forces community.
A ceremony in Church Square this morning marked the start of a week honouring their work, organised by Harborough District Council.

Veterans and service organisation representatives were at the event.
Schoolchildren from St Joseph’s Catholic Voluntary Academy, Farndon Fields Primary School and Market Harborough Church of England Primary Academy joined veterans and service organisation representatives at the event.

The armed forces flag was hoisted on the council’s Symington Building at around 10.30am, after council chairman Cllr Buddy Anderson welcomed guests in the hot sunshine.
Prayers were led by Rev Hils Corcoran, team vicar at Harborough Anglican Team, while Leicestershire’s Deputy Lieutenant Sally Bowie addressed attendees.
A one-minute silence was also held to reflect on the sacrifices made by the armed forces.
