Excitement is building ahead of Market Harborough’s first-ever half marathon, with more than a thousand runners signed up.

The event takes place next Sunday, starting and finishing at the Showground, and is expected to attract around 1,500 participants.

Organised by Race Harborough, the race is backed by title sponsor Snap Fitness and supported by partners including The Injury Clinic, Costa Coffee and Senior Car & Van Hire.

Mary Pearson (Event Director) and Chris Stankiewicz (Clinic Director), The Injury Clinic Market Harborough, Official Partner.

Event Director Mary Pearson from Race Harborough spoke to HFM:

Harborough Athletic Club have been coaching a group of runners for the race.

Harborough Athletic Club has also been helping runners prepare with a 10-week training programme led by qualified coaches.

The Event Village will feature food and drink stalls, sponsor stands, and coverage from HFM.

Organisers say they are still looking for volunteers to help on the day in roles including marshals, car parking and water stations.

Two official charities, the Bodie Hodges Foundation and Voluntary Action South Leicestershire, are also benefiting from fundraising efforts.

Anybody interested in volunteering is asked to email the race organisers on info@raceharborough.co.uk with any location or role preferences.
