Home-Start South Leicestershire Appeals for New Volunteers
Written by HFM News on 10th April 2026
Home-Start South Leicestershire is looking for new volunteers to join its supportive team, which helps families with young children across the Harborough District.
The charity’s annual eight-session preparation course begins on Wednesday 15th April, and will take place during school hours.
The Market Harborough-based organisation supports families facing a range of challenges, including financial pressures, isolation, loneliness, mental or physical ill health, and living with disabilities or long-term conditions. It says the ongoing cost-of-living crisis continues to add pressure on parents, particularly during the early years of a child’s life.

Charity manager Stella Renwick said support is tailored to each family’s needs. She said: “The help given by volunteers is bespoke to each family based on their individual circumstances.
“So, you could be going for a play in the park with the children, helping the family get out to the library or be a listening ear to a parent feeling stressed.”
She added that the charity is keen to recruit more male volunteers, who are currently under-represented.
Volunteers receive full training, ongoing support, and opportunities to meet others through occasional social events.
Anyone with a few hours a week to spare, and an interest in supporting local families, is encouraged to get in touch.
