Royal Mail Warns of Delivery Delays in Harborough District

Royal Mail has warned of potential service delays in parts of the Harborough District due to staff sickness and poor weather.

The delivery office in Lutterworth, which serves the LE17 and LE9 postcode areas, is one of 38 bases affected nationwide.

It comes as the postal firm faces ongoing complaints about delayed mail and claims that parcels are being prioritised over letters.

A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “Adverse weather, including storms in January, alongside higher-than-usual sick absence, has caused some short-term disruption to certain routes.

“We want to reassure customers that the vast majority of mail is delivered as planned and understand how frustrating it is when post does not arrive as expected.”

The company added that where delays do affect a route, extra support will be brought in to “restore deliveries as quickly as possible”.

The delivery office in Leicester East, serving postcode areas LE2 and LE5 to LE7, is also among those affected.
