Desborough Man Jailed For Life

A Desborough man has been jailed for life for his role in the death of Ryan Burton in Kettering earlier this year.

Keiton Underwood, 20, of Bridge Road, Desborough, was sentenced today (Monday, December 22) after pleading guilty to murder, alongside Ace Hill, 19, of Minden Close, Corby, who also admitted the charge and received a life sentence.

Ryan was attacked in Spring Rise Park on Kettering’s Highfield Estate shortly before 7pm on Friday, January 10th.

He suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital, where he underwent multiple operations and was placed in an induced coma.

The 34-year-old died six days later, after developing sepsis due to the severity of his injuries.

Underwood will serve a minimum of 24 years in prison, while Hill will serve 21 years, before becoming eligible for parole. Both will remain on licence for life.

Cameron Williams-Ferguson, 24, of High Street, Kettering, was jailed for eight years for manslaughter, while Kyle Derek McSkimming, 23, of Pen Green Lane, Corby, received seven years and 10 months for the same offence.

Connor White, 25, of Spencer Street, Rothwell, was sentenced to 43 months for a separate robbery. A 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named, was previously given a six-month youth referral order for possession of an offensive weapon.

In her victim impact statement, Ryan’s mother Diane Burton described the lasting pain of losing her son.

She said: “This pain and knowledge of how Ryan died will follow me wherever I go – I have no place of safety, nowhere I can feel comfort.”

She added: “They were like a pack of hounds. Ryan had no chance to defend himself… I had to bury my child. No parent should ever have to do that.”
