Warning Over Parking Fine Text Scam
Written by HFM News on 11th December 2025
Harborough District Council is warning residents about a new text message scam involving fake parking fines.
People have reported receiving texts claiming they have been issued with a Penalty Charge Notice that must be paid immediately, along with a link to make the payment.
The message also claims the recipient’s driving licence maybe revoked if the fine is not paid.

HDC says the messages are fraudulent and stresses it never issues parking fine payment links by text, with all legitimate Penalty Charge Notices sent in writing by Leicestershire County Council.
Residents are urged to ignore the texts and avoid clicking on any links.
You can report the scam to Action Fraud online or by calling 0300 123 2040.
