Fly-tipping prosecution

Harborough District Council says another successful prosecution sends out a clear message to anyone who might consider dumping rubbish illegally in our countryside.

It follows the conviction of 35 year-old Marta Dominiak – who pleaded guilty at Leicester Magistrates’ Court to four offences relating to dumping a large amount of packaging, food waste and food crates on a grass verge in Covert Lane, Scraptoft in March last year.

The rubbish related to a shop owned by Ms Dominiak which has now closed down – and evidence found at the scene enabled investigators to trace the incident back to her.
She has been ordered to pay a total of nearly four and a half thousand pounds in fines, costs and compensation.

This latest prosecution comes as the Council aims to build on the success of its ‘Tip Off’ campaign -highlighting the impact of fly-tipping on the Harborough District.
