Striking Display At Church Ahead Of Remembrance Day

A waterfall of poppies has been unveiled outside a village church near Market Harborough ahead of Remembrance Day.
The striking display features thousands of knitted and crocheted poppies and can be seen cascading down the side of St Nicholas Church in Marston Trussell.

The majority of the poppies are red, but there are also purple ones to represent animals that have been victims of war and some white poppies, to represent remembrance for all victims of war.
A competition to guess the number of poppies in the display has been running to raise money for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
A team of 30 volunteers worked on the project, including Mandy Allen, who helped lead it:
