Work has started on the site of a proposed new SEND school in Market Harborough.
Education provider Aurora Group plans to convert the former Roman Way Community Centre, after purchasing it from Leicestershire County Council.

It says the school would provide ‘much-needed’ school places for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
A spokesperson for Aurora Group told HFM: “We have undertaken some exploratory works, whilst awaiting planning permission.
“All being well we hope to open in autumn 2026.”
The school would accommodate 88 pupils aged between five and 19 and employ about 64 members of staff, if planning permission is granted by Harborough District Council.
The closure and sale of the community centre by the county council earlier this year also forced the shutdown of the Shopmobility charity that had been based there.
