Harborough Town Football Club have praised the swift response of its medical team, stewards and volunteers after a medical emergency in the stands during Saturday’s FA Trophy first round game.

The match at the Community Football Ground was temporary suspended in the 52nd minute, so an AFC Rushden and Diamonds supporter could receive treatment at pitchside before being stretchered into the clubhouse.

A club statement said: “Harborough Town FC is proud to have a dedicated team of volunteers across Matchday and Operational roles, many of whom undertake regular trauma training.

“Today, that training ensured the incident was managed efficiently, safely, and with care.

“The club would like to formally record its sincere thanks to everyone involved and sends its very best wishes to the fan for a full and speedy recovery.”

A statement said: “The club are incredibly grateful to the staff and volunteers at Harborough Town FC for the exemplary care and compassion they showed throughout both incidents.

“We are pleased to advise that despite some bumps and bruises, both supporters are OK.

“Thanks also to supporters and players from both clubs that stayed late in to the evening to support those that needed it.

“In some difficult moments we saw everything that makes the non-league footballing community so great.”
