Search Launched For On-The-Run Prisoner

Police are appealing for help to find a man with links to the Market Harborough area who has absconded from an open prison.

Patrick Gavin was serving a five year and one-month sentence for causing grievous bodily harm with intent, after a man was stabbed in Desborough.

The 36-year-old walked out of HMP Sudbury in Derbyshire on Friday evening, together with another man, who has since been found and returned to custody.

Gavin, formally of Justin Park, Northampton Road near Market Harborough, was jailed in 2022 after a man was attacked in Harrington Road, Desborough in November 2020 and treated in hospital for stab wounds to his arm.

Although another man carried out the stabbing, Gavin was convicted under joint enterprise of the offence, after arming himself with a shovel at the time of the attack.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact Derbyshire Police.
