Appeal After Fireworks Thrown At People & Vehicles

An investigation has been launched after fireworks were thrown at people and vehicles in Desborough and Rothwell.

Police received multiple calls reporting fireworks being hurled from the window of a pick-up truck between 5pm and 5:30pm yesterday.

Pedestrians and vehicles were targeted in areas including Bridge Street in Rothwell, and Rothwell Road and Gold Street in Desborough.

Luckily no-one was injured.

Officers have condemned the incidents and are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage to help identify those responsible.

A Northamptonshire Police spokeswoman said: “Fireworks can be exceptionally dangerous in the wrong hands and we would urge anyone buying them to ensure they have taken all the necessary precautions before letting them off safely.

“They are not toys and using them in this way could have fatal consequences.”
