Family Escape Injury As Car Ploughs Into Beer Garden

The family who run a pub in Husbands Bosworth say it’s a miracle they weren’t hurt — after a driver crashed into the beer garden.

The Range Rover left the road, smashed through a wall and fencing, and hit a parked car before coming to rest on its side outside the Bell Inn on Bell Lane, just before 2pm yesterday.

Landlords John and Sarah Dillon and their daughter Megan were just yards away and say they only avoided the crash, which was captured on CCTV, because they’d stopped to laugh at one of John’s jokes.

Luckily the pub was closed at the time, and no one, including the car’s occupants, was injured.

Megan spoke to HFM about the frightening incident:

The family have thanked everyone who helped after the crash and all those who have since offered support and sent messages of goodwill.

They also say the incident highlights the need for speed-reduction measures on Bell Lane.

Leicestershire Police attended the scene and say no arrests were made.
