Council Reviews Options After Phone Mast Removed Without Permission

Harborough District Council is ‘considering its options’ after a mobile phone mast it owned was removed without permission.

Telecoms firm EE took down the structure after removing its equipment from the site in the Friendship Park on Northampton Road a fortnight ago.

The council had previously said it would be arranging for the removal and disposal of the mast at a later date, once the equipment had been taken off it.

A spokesperson for HDC told HFM: “The council is aware the mast which it owns has been removed by the operator.

“The council are considering options.”

EE told HFM it is working with the council ‘to decide next steps’.

The 3G mast had become redundant following the installation of a new 5G mast by EE earlier this year, further along Northampton Road at the Welland Park Road junction.

The space left behind in the park is expected to be used for a public art sculpture.
