School’s £5.2m Investment To Expand Student Numbers

Welland Park Academy in Market Harborough has unveiled plans for a new teaching block as part of a £5.2m project to increase pupil numbers.

The two-storey building would contain five classrooms and be built on a disused part of the school site, alongside a new car parking area.

A planning application for the new development has been submitted, while plans to extend and refurbish the science block — adding extra classrooms — have just been approved.

The school hopes to accommodate an additional 150 students over the next five years and has received developer funding through the Section 106 scheme to pay for the work.

Other projects include updating toilet blocks and installing a new canopy area, for use as additional dining space.
