Power Restored After Major Outage

Electricity has been restored after hundreds of homes and businesses in Market Harborough and Little Bowden were left with no electricity.
The major outage just before 1pm affected over 800 properties and forced the temporary closure of Sainsbury’s in the town, as well as causing traffic lights to fail at several junctions.

National Grid Electricity Distribution said the ‘high voltage’ fault was caused by its equipment being ‘accidentally damaged.’
Supplies were restored within the hour.
A National Grid Electricity Distribution spokesperson said: “All properties affected by the high voltage fault in Market Harborough have been restored as of 1.50pm this afternoon.
“We’d like to thank customers for their patience as our engineers worked to get the lights back on for homes and businesses in the town.”
