Arrest After Crash During Police Pursuit

A man has been arrested after a crash involving a BMW that was being pursued by police on the M1 near Lutterworth.
The driver collided with a Ford Mondeo and a Mercedes lorry yesterday afternoon, before leaving the carriageway and hitting a tree.
A man was taken to hospital, but his injuries are not believed to be serious, according to Leicestershire Police.
The BMW was being followed by Northamptonshire Police at the time.
A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, disqualified driving, and having no insurance.
He has been released on bail pending further inquiries.
Northamptonshire Police has made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, due to the prior police contact.
