Film Celebrates 25 Years of Market Harborough’s Millennium Tapestry

A film has been made to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Market Harborough’s Millennium Tapestry.

The tapestry features over 60 panels depicting buildings and events in the town and remains on display in the Symington Building.

More than 40 members of the Harborough u3a group spent over three years making it to mark the new century.

The idea for the film came from Dick Van Aken, who was inspired after finding a video he had filmed of the tapestry’s unveiling on November 15th, 2000.

It led to creation of the Harborough Welland u3a Movie Group, who managed to find some of the people who were involved in the making of the tapestry.

They feature in the film and Jim Tyson, who did the majority of the video editing, spoke to HFM:

The film was shown publicly for the first time yesterday and is set to be screened again in Market Harborough in the coming weeks.
