Weather Delays Tennis Court Upgrades at Welland Park

Unsettled weather conditions have delayed planned improvement works to the tennis courts at Welland Park in Market Harborough.
The £80,000 scheme, which includes resurfacing and the installation of new gate access systems, was originally scheduled to begin earlier this month.
Harborough District Council has confirmed that the site will now be cleaned next week, with the work due to commence on September 29th.

The tennis courts and part of the park’s Welland Park Road car park will be out of use for around ten weeks, while the upgrade takes place.
The work is being funded by the Lawn Tennis Association and the access systems will allow for a new booking system to be introduced, to ensure as many people as possible have the opportunity to use the courts and play tennis for free.
The project is part of more than £30m of nationwide investment by the UK government and LTA Tennis Foundation to refurbish public tennis courts across Great Britain and open up the sport to more people.
