Probe Into ‘No Show’ Roadworks

Severn Trent Water has launched an investigation after being criticised by drivers following recent roadworks on the A6 in Kibworth.

A lane was closed and temporary traffic lights left in place last weekend when no work was taking place and motorists say they could have been removed.

The restriction near the entrance to tip followed work to repair a fire hydrant and caused significant delays for drivers.

The restriction was in place on the A6 in Kibworth

Leicestershire County Council granted the permit for the work to take place and a spokesperson said: “Severn Trent have launched an investigation into the operational performance of this project.

“The county council and Severn Trent will review the outcomes and advise of any actions proposed.”

The traffic lights were removed on Monday afternoon.

A Severn Trent spokesperson said: “We are working with Leicestershire County Council and continue to liaise with them about these works.”

Harborough MP Neil O’Brien has written to Severn Trent Water about the matter and Kibworth councillor Phil King has requested for senior council officers to attend a residents meeting, to explain and answer questions on issues about highways and roads in the area.
