Reform UK Selects Leicestershire Leader

Reform UK has chosen its new leader for Leicestershire.
Dan Harrison has taken up the position after the party became the biggest group on the County Council at the local elections.
The former Conservative county councillor, who represents Ashby, defected to Reform earlier this year and will lead the party’s 25 newly-elected members.

Reform is the largest party on the authority, but fell just short of securing an overall majority leaving the council in no overall control.
However, Cllr Harrison is set to become leader of the council after both the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats ruled out any kind of coalition deal, meaning Reform are likely to become a minority ruling party.
Cllr Harrison said: “It’s an honour and a privilege to have been elected leader of the Reform UK group on Leicestershire County Council.
“What we have achieved here is incredible.
“From a standing start we are now the largest party on the council.
“The people of Leicestershire have given this council a clear mandate for serious change.”
Joseph Boam, the newly-elected Reform councillor for Whitwick, has been chosen as deputy leader of the Reform group.
A new overall leader, chair and vice-chair on Leicestershire County Council will be elected tomorrow.
