Villager Is Guest Of Honour At VE Day Anniversary Party

A 100-year-old villager was guest of honour at a party in Kibworth Beauchamp to mark today’s 80th anniversary of VE Day.

Celia Pemberton arrived at The Well community hub in a vintage car before enjoying the celebrations.

During WW2, Celia worked in the Women’s Royal Naval Service (WRNS), known as the Wrens.

Operations Manager Andy Wright told HFM pupils from Kibworth Primary School were also at the party:

The Well was decked out for the occasion with a window display including a decommissioned bomb found in Northamptonshire and original copies of the Leicester Mercury from D-Day.
