Proposed Charge to Deliver Wheelie Bins

Residents in thousands of new homes being built across Harborough may have to foot the bill for getting wheelie bins delivered to their properties.

The District Council says it can no longer afford to cover the £95 cost each time to supply over three thousand seven hundred new houses with their bins.

It’s proposed to introduce a delivery fee for each black general waste bin of £47.50 – and £45.41 for the blue-lid recyclables bin.

The new bins themselves won’t be charged for as they’ll remain the property of the council.

If the fees are approved by HDC’s executive next week, they’ll come into force on September the 1st.
