Plan For 18-Bed HMO In Market Harborough

Written by on 17th January 2025

Plans have been announced for an 18-bed House In Multiple Occupation (HMO) close to Market Harborough town centre.

Developers want to create it on Coventry Road by partly demolishing and extending a two-storey building, previously used as accommodation for Brooke House College students.

The property, originally two houses, is adjacent to the St Dionysius Community Hall and close to the town’s Medical Centre.

Former student accommodation would be converted if the plan is approved

If planning permission is granted, the building would be converted to provide 8 bedrooms on the ground floor and 10 on the first floor, together with a shared communal space.

A document sent to Harborough District Council says: “The proposal includes a part demolition of the building, as the existing rear extensions from the main gable are of poor build quality and condition, as well as being at different floor levels.

“In addition to improving the standard of build, it also gives the opportunity to enhance the aesthetics of the elevations.”

If the building is subsequently licenced by Harborogh District Council, it would become the largest HMO in the town.
