Concern At Rise In Animal Neglect
Written by HFM News on 16th December 2024
Animal neglect across Leicestershire and Northamptonshire are on the rise.
The RSPCA received nearly 1,300 reports across both counties between January and September – a rise of 22% on the same period the year before.
780 reports were received in Leicestershire – a 16% increase, while the rise in Northamptonshire was 6%, with 470 reports received by the RSPCA.
Cost of living pressures and a rise in people getting pets during Covid are being blamed for the increase.
The animal welfare charity fears the problem is about to get worse as more pet owners face financial hardship at Christmas.
