A Market Harborough boy has undergone a remarkable operation – a multiple organ transplant.
Seven year old Jay Crouch has received five organs – two kidneys, a liver, small intestine and pancreas.
It means the youngster can now swallow food for the first time in his life, as since he was six weeks old he’s been fed using a feeding tube, after his small intestine twisted and caused major damage to his organs.
Jay, who goes to Farndon Fields Primary School, is now back home after spending just over 4 weeks at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, where he had the transplant.
He’s the first child in nearly 20 years to undergo the complex procedure at the hospital.
