Fire At Former Buddhist Centre Was Arson

A fire which badly damaged a former Buddhist centre near Kelmarsh is being treated as arson.

Eight fire crews were needed to tackle the blaze at the derelict property on Haselbech Road during the early hours of Monday.

An investigation by Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service has found the fire was started deliberately and police are now investigating.

The building has stood empty for the past few years, although plans had been muted to convert it into flats, as part of a wider residential development in the grounds.

The blaze was reported just before 4am and Northants Police are appealing for anyone with information  to contact them on 101, quoting reference 24000642438.
