Controversial New Homes Plan Set To Be Rejected

Plans to build 40 new ‘affordable’ homes on the edge of the Farndon Fields estate in Market Harborough are set to be refused.

Over 50 residents have objected to the proposal for the development on land off Angell Drive and councillors are being urged to reject it when they meet next week.

Developer Owl Homes unveiled the plan to build on two-and-a-half acres of land earlier this year, with the mix of one to four bedroomed houses to be made available for social rent and shared ownership.

Planning officers at Harborough District Council have cited a number of reasons for recommending planning permission is refused.

They say the layout and design of the proposed development, which would be accessed via Henry Road, is poor and would have a significant adverse effect on neighbouring households.

Other concerns include highway safety and the re-routing of a public footpath through site.
