Police Respond To A6 Road-Race Concern

Police responded to concerns illegal road-racing was about to take place on the A6 bypass near Great Glen last night.

Officers received reports a large number of cars were parked in a layby on the stretch of road which has previously been the scene of high-speed racing, prompting safety worries.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: “Shortly before 9.20pm yesterday (Sunday 11 August) police received two reports of around 20 cars parked in a layby on the A6, between Oadby and Great Glen, Leicestershire.

“It was believed the vehicles were in the area with the intention of being involved in street racing.

“Officers attended but the cars had moved on and no crimes were reported.”
