Call For Re-Think On £1m Community Funding Allocations

Opposition councillors want a re-think on how £1m of community funding is being shared out across Harborough.

The grant scheme – the first of its kind – was approved by Harborough District Council’s coalition Cabinet last week, to provide money for community improvements.

But the Conservative group is questioning the methodology used to work out how much each area has been allocated.

Set amounts will be given to towns and larger villages, while over 50 smaller villages and hamlets will be able to apply for a share of £40,000.

The Tories have ‘called-in’ the decision meaning it will be reviewed by the council’s Scrutiny Committee next week.
