Girls’ Cricket To Launch in Market Harborough

Girls’ cricket is coming to Market Harborough for the first time.
The town’s cricket club is launching a softball cricket team in a bid to empower girls aged 11 to 17 to get involved in the sport.
A grant from the Market Harborough and Bowdens Charity has helped fund for equipment, kit and professional coaching, with weekly sessions starting next Monday evening.
The new sessions will begin on May 13th
Greg Hancock is leading the project after supporting his son’s cricket endeavors at Market Harborough CC.
He would often practice in the nets with his 15-year-old daughter Poppy who loved to play but wasn’t part of a team and inspired by her enthusiasm and recognizing the need for girls’ cricket provision in Market Harborough, Greg seized the opportunity to create something new.
