Flats Set For Transformation To Help Homeless

Major repairs are set to be made to flats in Market Harborough so they can be used a temporary accommodation for the homeless.
Harborough District Council is to spend around £200,000 transforming the three properties it owns in Plowmans Yard off Coventry Road.
The flats cannot currently be occupied because of damp and mould issues and the work on the building will include a new roof, windows and doors.

A planning application for the work has been submitted by the council, which has also recently converted a garage on the site into another flat.
There has been a big increase in homelessness across Harborough in the past year and many people needing temporary accommodation are housed outside the area.
