Showcase Event After Success Of Prom Appeal

A showcase event will take place in Market Harborough following the success of an appeal to help teenagers struggling with the cost of outfits for school proms.

Over 250 dresses, suits, shirts, shoes and other items have been donated to Welland Park Academy in the past six months.

All be put on show at the showcase evening at the school on Monday evening, so students from across the area can view them, before deciding if they want to hire or buy them for a small fee.

Staff member Nicki Burgess came up with the idea of the ‘Eco Wardrobe’ after not wanting the cost of outfits to be an obstacle for a youngster to attend their Prom and because too many items of clothing end up in landfill.

She told HFM the initiative has been a great success, thanks to all the generous donations:

The Showcase Evening on Monday 19th February will run between 6.30pm and 8.30pm.
