Driver Seriously Injured After Lorry Collided With Hotel

Police are appealing for witnesses after a lorry driver was seriously injured when his vehicle collided with a hotel near Desborough yesterday.

The 65-year-old man was taken to the University Hospital in Coventry after being freed from the wreckage of the cab by firefighters.

The collision happened at the Travel Plaza on the B576 Harborough Road just before 2.15pm.

For reasons not yet known, the driver of a white Mercedes HGV with attached red trailer, which was travelling towards Desborough, left the carriageway mounting the grassed area running alongside the hotel before colliding with the reception canopy.

No-one else was hurt.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have CCTV or dash cam footage of the collision.
