Children Highlight Railway Safety Through Poster Competition

Posters designed by children have been placed on a temporary footbridge in Kibworth to highlight the dangers of the railway.

Youngsters have been learning about the importance of not trespassing, the dangers of electrified lines and how to use level crossings safely, in response to Network Rail carrying out major work to electrify the Midland Main Line, which runs close to Kibworth Primary School.

As part of the work, a temporary bridge was installed off School Road, a popular walking route for children and their parents, while the permanent bridge near-by is re-built.

A competition to design safety posters was run at the school, with winners Alfie, Olivia and William receiving a book voucher from contractor AmcoGiffen, who will be displaying all the entries on the bridge, to act as a constant reminder to pedestrians of all ages of the importance of railway safety.
