MP Urges People To Oppose Harborough Tip Closure Plan

Harborough’s MP is urging people to object to the closure of Market Harborough’s tip.

Neil O’Brien is opposing the controversial cost-saving plan by Leicestershire Council Council.

Over 2,500 people have already responded to a public consultation on the proposal to shut the Household Waste and Recycling site on Riverside, along with two others elsewhere in county.

If the closure went ahead, people from Market Harborough would have to use the tip in Kibworth to dump rubbish.

There is just over a month left for people to have their say and Neil O’Brien told HFM it is vital residents’ views are heard:

A spokesperson for Leicestershire County Council said: “We would encourage people to respond to the consultation, which runs until Wednesday, 24th January and can be found on the county council’s website.

After the consultation closes, the results will be analysed and discussed by Cabinet later.”
