Leisure Centre Launches ‘Social Cafe’ To Bring Community Together

A new ‘social cafe’ has launched at Harborough Leisure Centre in a bid to reduce social isolation and improve community cohesion.

People are invited to go along for a chat and to play board games, while enjoying a free cuppa and biscuits every Wednesday afternoon from 12.30pm until 2.30pm.

The initiative aims to help reduce loneliness and allow people to learn about opportunities to be active.

Harborough District Council has welcomed the initiative and Cllr Jim Knight, portfolio holder for Wellbeing, said: “This is a brilliant initiative which will support both positive mental and physical wellbeing whilst building and strengthening community relations.

“I’m sure many adults in Harborough district will enjoy socialising with other friendly faces in this safe, warm, and welcoming environment.”
