A hotel and wedding venue in the Harborough District which closed suddenly has debts of over £4.5m.

Catthorpe Manor near Lutterworth ceased trading in September leaving the wedding plans of many couples in ruins and some out of pocket.

Documents seen by HFM detail the dire financial position of the operator of the venue, LWT Trading UK Limited.

Thirty customers are owed a total of over £24,000, while the amount owed to trade creditors exceeds over £134,000.

The largest debt was owed to the Latvian Welfare Trust, which financially-backed the operating company.
