Market Harborough’s former Barclays Bank has been put up for rent.

The branch shut at the end of July and now agents are marketing the three-storey building on the High Street, with a rental charge of £54,580 a year.

Promotion documentation reads: “The property is located in a prime position on the High Street and is a Victorian character 3 storey building, comprising of an open plan banking hall to the ground floor with ancillary offices to the first and second floors.”

Barclays blamed a reduction in in-person customers for the decision to close the branch, but has launched a ‘pop-up’ banking service at the Symington Building.

It was the third bank to close its door in the town centre this year, with buildings which were home to Natwest and HSBC banks both up for sale, with the former Natwest on St Mary’s Road ‘under offer’.
