Great Glen bridge upgrade work delayed

‘Unexpected delays’ to bridge upgrade work mean a road near Great Glen – which has been shut since January – will now not re-open until the end of this month.
The old bridge on Station Road has been demolished and a new structure is being put in place, as part of the project to electrify the tracks.
The work was due to be finished by now but Network Rail says it’s taking longer than anticipated. The company is apologising to drivers, saying its teams are working hard to complete the job.
Meanwhile, motorists are being reminded that Ashley Road in Medbourne is shut for up to nine weeks from this week.
The closure is needed while Leicestershire County Council carries out culvert replacement works.
