Market Harborough’s Wilko store is under threat after the homeware retailer warned it is on the brink of collapse, putting 12,000 jobs at risk.
The company has filed a ‘notice of intention’ to appoint administrators, after failing to find enough emergency investment.

Wilko has around 400 stores across the UK, including in St Mary’s Place.
It was founded in Leicester in 1930 and is still owned by the Wilkinson family.
The company’s chief executive says that while it has had some offers, none of them would provide sufficient cash to keep going, but it is still in discussions with ‘interested parties’.
