Outpouring Of Support For Family Left Homeless After House Fire

Written by on 21st July 2023

There has been an outpouring of support for a family left homeless and without any possessions after a fire at their house in a Harborough village.

An appeal was launched following the blaze in Claybrooke Magna on Monday, with left a mother and her children aged 2, 5 and 7 with nothing.

Nearly 200 bags of clothes have been donated, along with toys, furniture and other items.

Morrisons in Lutterworth have also given the family a £300 food voucher and people have pledged money to an on-line fundraising page.

The Chequers Country Inn in Ullesthorpe has acted as the drop-off point for donations, but has now run out of room to take any more.

Andrew Fillmore from Market Harborough is the children’s father and told HFM the family, who are now staying in temporary accomodation, has been overwhelmed by the support:

An electrical fault in the television is thought to have started the fire, which broke out just after 10am on Monday and left the house badly damaged.
