Work Set To Start To Create Temporary Railway Bridge In Kibworth

Preparation work is due to start this week ahead of a temporary footbridge being placed over the railway in Kibworth.
It was agreed after villagers mounted a campaign when they were told the well-used bridge off School Road would close for around nine months, which would have left them having to take a lengthy diversion across two busy roads.
Network Rail say the temporary structure should be in place by September, when the main bridge will shut and be re-built, as part of work connected with the electrification of the tracks.

A temporary site access to the railway is to be created and a site compound set-up in an area of the near-by Grammar School Hall Park.
A spokesperson for Network Rail said: “Much thought has gone into the implementation of this work, including the installation of a temporary footbridge, to cause the least amount of disruption to the village.
“We will continue to keep you updated and we ask for your cooperation and awareness during this work which will ultimately benefit the community long term.”
